Recent technological innovations have made it easier to manipulate plant-based ingredients, allowing the industry to surge forward pleasing both vegans and non-vegans alike. Desserts are a perfect example. Instead of eggs, chefs are using bananas, applesauce, flaxseeds or chia seeds. Instead of dairy, nut milks, soy yoghurts and coconut cream top the list.

Fermented flavors like non-dairy miso as ice cream are the types of plant-based, vegan-friendly options that are proving flavorful.  Butternut squash becomes a sweet filling and of course, chocolate appeals to all dessert lovers!  Modern consumers are turning to these traditionally vegan alternatives for new flavors, lower sugar and to support gut health.
