As a former chef and an avid golfer with 30 years’ experience in all sectors including many of the UK’s finest golf clubs, Iain Shaw, Account Director at Entegra, is the right person to answer the questions of golf clubs' operators.

Who are Entegra and what do you do?
We are a team of 150 food and beverage specialists working in partnership with over 1'000 businesses and 800 suppliers across Europe. We negotiate on behalf of our clients to find them the best possible supplier network. Our team is made up of ex operators, chefs, analysts and buyers from all hospitality sectors.

What can you bring to our team?
To be successful at achieving procurement results, three things are needed. The first is a large amount of spend with which to negotiate: we currently manage E32b of spend in Europe. This allows us to tap directly into manufacturer deals and negotiate the best prices. The second is market intelligence and the latest data from current supply partners. We share this knowledge with our clients so they can mitigate any product volatility. The third is experience – we have operated for 30 years, and our buyers are highly qualified in purchasing and supply chain matters.

Do you charge a fee?
We do not charge a fee, but instead agree a percentage of identified savings as our operating rebate with our clients, so that extra resource comes at no cost.

What are common concerns people have when starting to work with you?
Often it is fear of the unknown, loss of control or a drop in quality – none of which are the reality. I come from a kitchen and supply background myself, so I can empathise with operators’ concerns. We can guarantee constant forecasting, shrewd negotiation and expert data analysis on fresh commodities executed by qualified people in specialist areas.

Do we need to move all of our purchasing under your management?
No, It can be all or agreed categories. We agree where support is needed and what your individual objectives are.

How long does it take to start benefiting from your support?
We do the legwork. It usually takes one to two months from agreement to get our partnership live and kicking.
