- Corporate Social Responsibility Meets The Cost-smart GPO
Corporate social responsibility meets the cost-smart GPO
Corporate social responsibility meets the cost-smart GPO
April 1st, 2026
Whether your company has a deeply entrenched CSR commitment or more modest sustainability goals—such as a focus on customer health—a GPO (group purchasing organization) makes it easier to get what you need, when you need it, at the right price.
In honor of Earth Month 2026, we posed a few questions to Jeanie Johnson, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Lead, Entegra North America, to share examples of how Entegra helps hotels, restaurants, senior living centers and leisure outlets like golf and other hospitality-forward operations meet their sustainability goals.
Q. Many of Entegra's clients want to reduce their environmental impact by choosing more sustainable products and services. How does Entegra support their goals?
Jeanie Johnson, CSR Lead, Entegra North America: At Entegra, we support our clients by reducing purchasing confusion and providing an efficient way for operators to bring their sustainability goals to life.
Whether sustainability is mandated through your corporate strategy, such as committing to a sustainable seafood policy, or you’ve been watching eco-conscious or health-based consumer trends and don’t want to fall behind, reach out to Entegra first.
We can determine what sustainability means within your business context, set tangible goals together, and then shape your purchasing activity accordingly.
Q. Are bigger companies the only ones able to implement sustainability and responsible sourcing?
Jeanie: Not at all! If you’re unsure what sustainability means within your business segment, we’re here to help you navigate the CSR space. We have the experience, tools and framework to partner with you in this ever-evolving space.
Q. Give us some examples of how Entegra is supporting clients’ corporate responsibility initiatives.
Jeanie: One example is through Entegra’s engagement with EcoVadis; this program assesses suppliers’ corporate responsibility initiatives on four key factors—environment, sustainable procurement, ethics and human rights.
Working with EcoVadis-vetted suppliers ensures clients are sourcing through a 3rd party, globally recognized program.
Q. Please share a few tactical examples that might impact hospitality-forward operators interested in CSR and sustainability.
Jeanie: Many of our clients want to provide their customers with healthier spaces; environmentally friendly cleaning programs are a great way to do that.
Entegra clients have access to suppliers who provide cleaning products and equipment that reduce environmental impacts. Third party-certified cleaning products, for example, reduce the use of harmful chemicals and promote a healthier environment overall.
Eco-conscious to-go items are another example—from environmentally preferred paper and cardboard and smallwares to reusable foodservice containers. These alternatives not only meet consumer preferences and improve the presentation of meals, but innovative disposable programs can help reduce waste.
We’ll focus on plant-forward dishes, menus and food overall in part 2 of our conversation with Jeanie in mid-April: Stay tuned!
