Q&A: Aspire Bakeries & Stop Hunger Campaign

Now through December 31, 2025, for every case of qualifying Otis Spunkmeyer cookies or muffins Entegra clients purchase, Aspire Bakeries will donate a portion of the purchase to the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation.
Entegra’s writing team sat down with Mark Goldrainer, Aspire Bakeries’ Division Vice President, Sales, to talk about the inspiration behind the campaign.
Q: Tell us a little bit about your relationship with Entegra and its parent company, Sodexo.
Mark Goldrainer (Aspire Bakeries): Aspire Bakeries has partnered with Entegra and Sodexo for over 25 years. We wanted to do more, so we proposed donating a portion of Otis Spunkmeyer cookie sales to the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation. It was a hit, raising over $85,000 in 2024.
Q: That’s incredible. What’s new for 2025?
Mark: We expanded the campaign from one month to four (September–December 31, 2025), and from 18 cookie SKUs to 130 cookie and muffin SKUs.
Q: Why the expansion of offerings?
Mark: We wanted to offer more variety so people could try something new or add on to what they are already ordering. Donation rates now vary by SKU, some reaching $10 per case, with an average of $4.69. It’s about growing for good—more sales, more positive impact on communities.
Q: Any advice for other suppliers considering a charitable initiative?
Mark: Call me. We've built a suite of digital assets—flyers, table tents, and POS materials—and I am happy to discuss the details with other manufacturers to drive a charitable campaign.
Q: What other ways does Aspire Bakeries help fight waste and food insecurity?
Mark: Working with the Stop Hunger Foundation, we also donate slow-moving inventory through Move for Hunger, which arranges logistics to get food to local food banks. Over the past 15 months, we’ve donated 10,000+ cases.
We regularly look at OSMI – “Obsolete and slow-moving inventory.” We try to get ahead of those products before they expire to avoid waste and ideally, feed those in need.
Q: What does this partnership mean to you personally?
Mark: Everything. It’s not just business, it’s purpose. Our leadership is all-in, from our CEO Tyson Yu and our Executive Leadership Team to our Marketing and Finance teams. When I pitched the idea, everyone said, “Yes.” That’s rare for some organizations but not Aspire Bakeries.
Q: Tell us more about the Otis Spunkmeyer brand.
Mark: It’s our flagship cookie and sweet baked goods brand—it’s there for every stage of life. From schools to hotels and hospitals to senior living, as well as all commercial foodservice and retail channels of trade, Otis is everywhere. This campaign enables operators to support the fight against food insecurity and the the Stop Hunger Foundation by simply ordering what their customers and guests already love.
