If you’ve been tracking the tariff landscape over the past year, you know it’s been an uncertain time—especially for anyone involved in renovations, new builds or FF&E procurement (furniture, fixtures and equipment)

The first week of 2026 brought a moment of relief: a one-year delay on the previously scheduled tariff increases for wood products, including furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities.

Tariff relief: A snapshot

For Entegra clients including hotels, restaurants, senior living communities and other hospitality-centric operations, this is an important development worth unpacking.

Under the original plan:

  • Tariff rates on kitchen cabinets and vanities produced outside of the U.S. were scheduled to double to 50% as of January 1.
  • Duties on sofas, armchairs and upholstered furniture overall were also set to rise from 25% to 30% at the start of 2026.

FF&E tariff relief: what changed?

  • Existing tariffs will remain at 25% through 2026
  • No new cost escalations—for now—on critical FF&E items
  • No specific timeline was provided for when a final decision on the delayed tariffs will be made.1

Why this matters for business operators

The originally planned tariff increases would have had ripple effects across:

  • Renovations
  • New development
  • Brand-mandated refresh cycles
  • Budget forecasting and long-range capital planning

By keeping tariffs flat, businesses are getting a reprieve—one that helps operators, owners, and procurement teams maintain momentum and invest in facility improvements while avoiding unexpected price hikes.
